Letters from Arthur Tozer recording the history of the two socialist colonies up to 1904. They also describe the social conditions and political situations generally in South America, particularly in Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Paraguay. Includes copies of Cosme Monthly, Dec. 1894, March, May, Aug., Sep., Dec. 1895, and Jan.-March 1896 and a pamphlet, Cosme Co-operative Colony which contains the constitution of Cosme Colony.

An Englishman, who went to South America in 1889 and until 1893, had a succession of jobs in Argentina, Brazil and Chile before joining the New Australia settlement in Paraguay. He had helped search for a site for the movement in Argentina in 1892. When dissension split the group in 1894, he went with William Lane to establish Cosme Colony.
